S. Belle-Isle has been teaching portraiture for 15 years, and has taught over 500 people techniques to successfully draw portraits from photographs.

The pencil portrait drawing at left was completed by one of my students who has been in my art class at a local senior center for about 3 years.  She has created a number of wonderful art pieces and never ceases to amaze me with her accomplishments. She had never drawn anything before the class.

I employ the grid method for portraiture & have taught hundreds of people to draw faces. Many achieved a stunning likeness the first time. I also have art projects that include watercolor, pastel, & Prismacolor pencils as well as charcoal, clay & graphite pencils.

Some pencil drawing techniques that I teach are burnishing, impressed line, borrowing, blending, color lifting, creative erasing, etc.
